Default Engine no start

I have a 94 trans am, Lt1 engine with manual transmission. Yesterday it became a no start. The motor cranks normally for a short time (1 to 2 sec) then it starts fighting the starter like the Timing is way off. I am suspecting the ECM , or possibly the timing chain. This engine does not seem to have timing marks on the harmonic balancer, so I don't see a way to check the timing chain timing without a tear down. Does anyone know a way to check it. As far as the ECM, I am considering it because the way the engine cranks it seems like the ECM may be advancing the engine after a few turns, but cranks normal for a few turns. Has any one had a similar issue with the LS1 engine?

Default

Just reset the ECM and now when I tried to crank the started it turned a half turn then hit a hard stop. I am suspecting the timing chain has jumped. Anyone second its prognosis?
