Default Does AC rob power?

I've heard many different things about AC.Does it actully rob power when NOT engaged? How much does the compressor weigh compared to an AC Delete Pulley. Is the Delete Pulley even necassary if I can route a shorter belt ignoring the AC

Thanks

Here's a thread discussing AC power draw, from back in 2002... Doesn't answer all your questions, but worth a look https://ls1tech.com/forums/generation-iii-external-engine/49997-pulleys-worth-money.html

As far as dragstrip use, it's generally a no-no as the condensation can drip onto the track.

I'd hate to be the one to hold up the guys behind me cause I was dripping some unknown liquid in the staging lanes. Have to say I've seen it happen though and was ticked cause it held me up from making my last run of the night.
