On The Title Of my parents 02 WS6 it says ... (its a ws6 its got the ram air and the hood)
2002 FIREBIRD FORMULA/TRANS A 2 DR HATCHBACK
Now does this mean it is a formula? Is it a trans am. what the hell is the difference here? Which one is better/ which one is faster?

i think in the auto industry it just means its a v8 car. on autotrader that is how all the trans am's are listed as trans am/formula. if you are worried whether it is real or not look at your rpo codes on the inside of the drivers side door for the code that says WS6
It's a Forumla with the Trans Am option.

First off they build the Firebird. It gets the V6.
Then they add the Formula option in order to get the V8.
Then there's the Trans Am option for differnt body panels, & possibly suspension upgrades, & othjer misc options like leather, etc., ...
Technically, It'a a Firebird Formula Trans Am.
Oh, & hold on just a minute, there'll be all kinds of people with their own 2 cents worth of arguements be right in, ...

It's written the same way on my title, and the insurance card, and the registration. I know damn good and well it's a WS6, I bought it new, and still have the window sticker, and the correct RPO code, so how they write it on the title/reg/isurance papers means nothing (to me at least) I know what it is, and that it's a real WS6

well i looked at the codes and it has the ws6 code. But what the hell is WS9 Mean?
WS9 is the code for the Formula, all T/As start out as Formulas, then (if the build sheet calls it out) the extra stuff to make it a t/a is added, then after that, the the stuff that makes it a WS6.
All the Formula (WS9) designation means at the factory is that it's a V8 car
