Default air box cover

My car has a carbon fiber looking top for the air box, but i'm a little concerned about it because it looks like it doesnt seal in the back, theres a gap between the filter and the top of the cover and i would think dust and crap could get in there, is the lid supposed to fully seal around the lower part of the box?

As long as the tabs are pushed into the slots, you should be ok.

do you have a smooth bellows on the car? if you do you may have to trim a little off of it to get the lid to fit in there right.

well its hard to describe, i just picked up an slp air box cover, it sealed it better, I'm going to take pics of what im talking about tomorrow but after i put the lid on, i can move the filter around, why isnt it snug? am I missing something? also in the back where the top slides into the tabs, theres a small gap there, is that normal, I might be making a big deal out of nothing but i just bought the car and i get freaked out about stupid stuff.

I uploaded a pic of the air box, is that how its supposed to look, Im not sure how the filter goes in, i have a K&N it just doesnt get snug in there, its the right size i got it from slp today, after the lid is on i can stick my hand up there and move it around

Looks like your missing that "tray" for a lack of a better word, that sits down in the lower half of the airbox.
