Default my first set of mods

Just got an M6 '01 WS6 to replace my '02 M3 (beautiful car... too much damn $ and not fast enough) so I'm looking to make the T/A handle and brake comparably to the M and still put at the very least 320 hp to the wheels for around 10k for the first set of mods... heres my idea...

-Hotchkis TVS (I want something all inclusive... i dont want to shop around and find im still missing parts)
-Bilstein Shocks (Im not so sure about these... but i want something under $500)
-Zo6 Brake Calipers and drilled rotors (i know theres no performance benefit to the drilled rotors... but i LOVE how they look and im not driving it any harder than a Zo6 is ment to be driven so i dont think ill crack em)
-SLP 375 hp package (again I would prefer something all inclusive, but this - above all - is open to reccomendations)
-12 Bolt rearend (This I want to do before getting the serious engine mods - like heads/cam/FI that i WILL do in a few years - that would require the 12 bolt... i might as well do it while get it in while the susp. is taken apart)
-Short throw shifter (help me out with this one - what brand???)

Now here's the real question: can I do all of this myself in a few days time with some help by a couple of people? I haven't ever tackled anything this hard before: I've done minor susp. work and installed exhaust before but I have friends who are capable of all of the above. I know Id have to send it off to an alignment shop and a muffler place to weld the exhaust in... but does all of this make sense and will it reach my goals?

thanks

First off, congrats on ditching the M3. Yes they are very nice cars but for the price tag slow. Just so you know, your 01 WS6 probably NOW tosses 320 to the wheels stock, mine tossed down 316 It will not take 10K to do.

Anyway, that SLP **** is overpriced and you can do alot better choosing mods to get power how you want it. I'd read around the boards here and learn about the different mods you can do from exhaust to heads to cams.

Z06 brakes you don't need. Upgrade to the Baers if you want. I am still on stock calipers and I have slotted rotors. The rotors are what are cross drilled. Bilstein shocks wouldn't be a bad thing, I am still on my Decarbon shocks and my car hooks and handles well for not having a sway bar. I doubt you will get the car to handle as well as your M3, close but different body and chassis all together.

How fast is it you want to go at first? Are you going to street cruise or are you going to be a track junky like me?

10 bolt rear ends can break with bolt ons. It's not a big deal it's usually the spider gear that breaks. It can be fixed but just so you know 12 bolts too can break gears inside.

Enjoy your car, I would seriously talk to others here before wasting $ on SLP's package.

-Pro 5.0, i absolutely love it i mean i would never think about the stock one ever again.
-get your self a lid got myself the SLP fits on fine no problems with it.
-headers i got SLP's but i got them used for a real good deal so thats why i got em.
-exhaust system is basically go to Ls1sounds.com listen to the sorts you would like, i got a 3inch custom X with gutted cats and magnaflow 4x9's dumped. idle sounds nice not to loud WOT is a totally different story.
-as for brakes you can get yourself some cross drilled and slotted rotors with stock calipers which wont be as expensive as a complete Baer Brake Kit but if i had the money for the Baer, or Brembo, or Wilwood i'd be all over them.
-rear end well if you got the money jump on it. brand is all on you i still got my stock 10 bolt.
Hopefully this helps you before you jump into the SLP Kit look into other places because you can always buy all those mods seperate. and get better products as well. not bashing SLP or anything but why buy a package when you can buy most of those things seperate and get the best of everything.

Another "no" on the SLP package. You can do much better by picking individual parts!

ok yea im thinking about not using the slp package any more... i just wanted to get an idea of what their product was like. the reason i wanted the zo6 brakes are because the red caliper look pretty awesome (even though theyre just the pressure cast version of the calipers on the car) and theyre just $80 a caliper. how expensive are the brembos? Im looking for a 13" drilled and slotted rotor and the mounting bracket for the caliper that'll really improve braking. also what pad should i be running with the new rotor? and im thinking of getting a new clutch, what brand works for a stiff feel but precise engagement?
