I know it makes a big difference. with the regular set up lid k& nshit like that it flowed nice. and air fuel was perfect. Put this box ox on and my car went way lean. Now I know what you are thinking, the mass air show stop this but the lower part of the box is different and changes the flow into the mass air. (maybe not hitting the sensors or something just rite) so we did some tuneing and I made more power not all was cause the box some just tuning anyway but i knoiw it does help.
the box is the last pic, and it seals to the hood the hood has a cut out and you can stike you hand in it and see it through the grills in the front

How do you know your car went "way lean?" Did you data log your car with a wide band o2? I've seen people run the 1/4 with their ram air open vs. blocked and there was no significant difference. Placebo effect? It has been proven not to make a significant difference. I have a ram air hood myself, but it's just for looks.

Didn't the WS6 cars also have different exhaust? That would also help explain the difference in power ratings from the factory. Sorry - I should know this but my factory exhaust was not on my car for more than 2 weeks Performance wise there is very little difference.

WIDE band on a dyno.... REDNECK Z
no Placebo effect..never said I could "feel it". Dyno showed it
lets face it people saying they felt 5-15hp is bull ****
15 rwhp on a 300rwhp is only 5% difference.
3.5% if 10.5 wrhp or
1.5% == 4.5wrhp.
on my car 400 rwhp 8 rwhp=== 2% change there is know way you can "feel it"

It was probably something other than your ram air causing a lean condition. The ram air has no effect on a dyno, air/fuel ratio included. The lower part of the air box even being different is still going to straighten the air flow out through the neck before it gets to the MAF. I couldn't see this accounting for the lean condition either. Not saying you are lying, I just think there is something else to account for your lean condition. This is not to say that ram air is completely worthless. Ram air is a very debateable issue. IMHO, I think it has a SLIGHT effect and only at very high speeds.

Yeah I'm not trying to say anyone should turn their car into a garage queen, but half the fun of having a TA is just parking it and looking at it; especially an LS1 WS6

The "ram air" it not to account for the lean conditon.
The lower air box IS. ON A DYNO did a pull with regular intake, lid, ext... good air fuel.
never taking car off dyno swap lower air box to the one I am talking about........................and very very lean. the way the lower air box flows the air to the mass air flow metter is different and we had to make up for this in the tunning.

There's also a 98 pound weight difference between these two.

Do you have any pics of the lower air box?

So, if you took off the lid and filter and ran it, would the engine run even leaner?
