Default '88 Firebird ?

Heys guys, my friend just got an 88 v6 firebird, its not in the great of shape but not too bad, but he just bought an iroc camaro engine im not sure of the year and I'm just wondering if he is going to be able to run that engine with the stock v6 transmission?? Also what about the rearend is it going to be able to hold up? Are there any more worries that he is gong to have to worry bout? Thanks for your help

The 2.8 V6 Automatic and the 5.7 V8 Automatic were both 700R4 Transmissions in 1988. They were not however compatible to either engine. The bellhousing is different on both transmissions and are unique to each engine. I thought I could do that with the '88 V6 Camaro that I once owned, but after researching it found out that I could not swap in a V8 and keep the V6 transmission.
