How I covered the awful Atari gauges
The Atari gauges were probably the biggest turnoff for me when purchasing the G8. However, I proceeded with the assumption that there was a simple, appealing alternative. After spending some time looking through what others have done, I was down to breaking the bank to spend 1.5k on a whole new HSV stereo/dash setup or settling for a reprogrammed triple Atari gauge. I tossed around the idea of covering it up with a tablet, but I wasn't liking the idea of creating a custom mold or settling with some of the other methods I saw on how to mount it. But...once I received the the LG G Pad 8.3X from Verizon for free with the purchase of my V10, I had to make it work. So here is what I did to mount the tablet, in my opinion, in a very clean, stable, accessible, cheap, easy way:
Yes, Velcro
Result:
I have since added a case, being that I remove the tablet and throw it in the glove box for security reasons. With the case on, there is no need to leave a open space for the SD card, so I filled the gap. The case is also great for keeping the tablet cool while in direct sunlight.
What Velcro?
Gas mileage...
Or performance??
