Default Anything Specific?

Hey guys, I'm not really too familiar with the GTO as I am with the f-bodies, but I am going to possibly check out a 2004 GTO with roughly 85,000 miles on it. I was wondering if there are anything little details that I need to look for. Any help would be great, thanks!

i would be concerned with suspension issues---check for strut rub on the inside of the front tires.

Howdy neighbor (sort of). That's alot of miles but you must be getting it for under 10K I hope. Anyways, like mentioned above check the insides of not only the front tires but the insides of the backs as well. Front = possible strut rub and you could also see on the strut cup a wear mark if so the case. Back = sagging stock springs an on the IRS, the wheels would bow inward on the tops. You didn't mention what tranny A4 or M6 but as you test drive it easily at first - so you can hear things or feel things report back to us before buying if something is amiss. While the car is running but parked, turn the wheel lock to lock and listen for any thunking noise. If the car doesn't already have some suspension upgrages and it has 85k on the clock, you are going to hear a lot of noises but don't despair. There are some good vendors to the right that will advise you of any needs as you encounter them. This car will feel more luxo than the f-bodies that you are used to but that is also why it is heavier and heavier cars are harder on suspension components.
I love my 04/A4 and will keep her well beyond the 100k mark. Good luck.

You'll also want to look to see if the radius rod bushing are worn out/leaking... If you aren't familiar with them, they are a bushing that a steel, slightly curved rod coming out of the lower control arm, goes into. It's mount withing the frame/engine cradle on the front corners of the car. If they are not red or blue....They will need to be replaced. They cost anywhere from $175-$245 plus shipping. But very easy to replace. You'll also want to listen for rearend noise... I'm sure you know most of the things to look/listen for.... Suspension is the main thing to pay attention to...These cars are overall very reliable.

It is a 6-speed, don't know how much difference that plays in the roll of it's well-being. Probably just driven harder than an automatic. But I will look for those things.
