Future values
I plan on getting my enjoyment of driving it till storage time this fall and fixing a few issues over winter and the making it a show car. That's my goal, and also to at least place. Would it also be beneficial for the value of the car it does have 78,000 miles and is in excellent shape. You opinions would be great. Thanks.
This site has info on production numbers. I have the page saved to 2006 as that's the year of my car, but you can go through it to find your year if it's different: http://ultimategto.com/cgi-bin/stats...ataplate+price
You can get an idea of how many of your car/ color was produced, which can also help give you an idea of how rare your car is.
Above all else, enjoy your car!
Cars that are valuable today are rare option cars that were made in relatively low numbers. Keep in mind that old and rare does not always mean valuable.
If you look at cars from the 60's and 70's most have not increased in value much if any over the years if you use the value of the dollar from then until now. The average cost of a new car in 1969 was $3,400 in todays money that's equivalent to roughly $27,000 dollars. You can buy a pretty damn nice old car for that money today.
In other words buying a car and not using the car because you think it will be valuable down the road is always a bad idea when you figure the cost of the car. Even if the value doesn't decline you're still losing money by letting it sit, You still have the cost to insure the car and the cost to store and maintain it.
As far as value, I think that if you take care of it, don't get crazy into engine mods, you can probably unload it for almost what you paid for it. I don't see the values of these cars plummenting but rather holding value for anything with lower miles in great shape. Of course if you have a beat one with over 100k miles, the value will reflect that.
