Default Spring question

Anyone have any input on what springs are the best for road racing and SOME street-ability?
Also thinking in terms of best bang for your buck...

Best bang for the buck would be BMR they are selling a set for only 180.00 I think. I had BMR's on, then went to Strano's and went back to BMR's springs, the Stranos were a bit soft to me on the rear, I got 4/4 Koni's and drive it on the street, rides fine.

Do you have Sam's swaybars? This suspension is a package and supposed to act together, the springs may be too "soft" with the stock rear bar.

A roadrace spring does not automatically mean its going to be "un-streetable". Just make sure to pair them with the right shocks.

You can do a search here and in the suspension forum, but the spotlines are arguably the worst springs made for our cars. They are too low (you are literally riding the bump stops in the rear) and the rates are too soft for the amount of drop so you are hitting the bump stops harder and more often that you should be. The Prokit is better, but suffers from rear spring sag. You can do much better. I would highly suggest Strano's springs (BMR's shouldn't be bad either) for the simple fact that hes won national SCCA events in his LS1 Camaro using the rear spring he sells, and custom front coilovers using the rates and height of the front springs he sells (also his swaybars, koni SA's and a UMI torque arm).
But the most important part would be shocks, and your HD's aren't going to cut it on lowering springs. You can have the absolute best springs but if you are on shocks that can't handle the rates of the springs the car isn't going to turn well and be unstable.

If you want some in depth analysis I would suggest calling Sam (stranoparts.com). But in a nut shell the KYB's adjust rebound and compression at the same time, so if you want more rebound you automatically get more compression like it or not. They are lower quality than the konis (I've seen a few examples on here of the shock body actually snapping) and don't warranty their shocks when used with lowering springs.
The konis on the other hand warranty their shocks no questions asked, are built better, and adjust rebound independently from compression (which is a fixed rate on the single adjustables).
If you plan on racing the car at all you'd be missing out by not going with at least Konis (if not koni then maybe a custom valved shock, but then you don't get the benefit of adjustability.) Honestly I would rather be on Konis and stock suspension then some crappy shocks and great springs and swaybars, yes they made that much of a difference.

You asked the question ... you're going to keep getting the same answer:

Strano springs & Koni's. It truly is a GREAT setup. There is more hard-core stuff for racing, but for something that is still perfectly streetable (my car is a daily-driver w/Strano suspension) then it's a really tough setup to beat.

My car has posted some VERY respectable times on my local tracks, and all it takes is a set of brake pads, sticky tires, and dialing up the firmness on the Koni's. Then, soften the shocks, put the street gear back on, and drive the car home ... it's really that easy, AND effective!

Also, the "best" stuff for racing will cost more. Best bang-for-the-buck really comes back to where we already are ... Koni shocks, Strano springs .

Default BMR springs

Yes, I have sam's sway bars also. I just wanted a bit more spring in the rear. They seem to be a better match with the Knoi's compression rate. I am talking about a personal perference here, not slamming Sam's springs.

Also congrads to Sam on winning the SCCA Solo driver if the year award, (even if he races a Mustang LOL)

Thumbs up

Best all round combination,

After trying a multitude of different makes of springs & dampers (shocks).........
fitting a full set of Koni Sport adjustables and Eibach springs, along with Eibach adjustable a-roll bars (sway bars) front and rear. Was like going from night to full daylight.
These were fitted along with complete motorsport suspension bushes and a good alignment set-up to get camber and castor optimized for what you want.
Had tried Eibachs with Bilstein non-adjustables before and they were a difficult to beat combination too but without adjustment, not always ideal for different conditions.
