Auburn Limited Slip
I have a 2002 SS ordered with the optional Auburn rear from SLP.
I burnt it up and had to replace it. I heard about a replacement program at Auburn, so I called 'em up.
Found of that Auburn produced a special unit just for SLP. Part number as provided to SLP was 500086. The replacement part number from Auburn is 542086. Looking over the part number list from Auburn 542082 thru 542085 are all for Dana 44 rear ends. 542087 is for GM 9.5".
No mention of 542086.
Just some strange info to throw around in 20 years when everyone forgets...

Should've asked for the racer diff as a replacement. Way better performance.

The T2R has made a major difference. Most noticeably in autocross. It seems to power out of corners better. I also open track and it’s great there too. I wouldn’t consider anything less.
The difference is that the Zexel Torsen unit is torque sensing. All Auburn units are rpm sensing and the net result, as I have been told by a mechanic friend of mine, is that in simple terms the Auburn units don't begin to split torque to the non-spinning wheel until the rpm difference is about 150 rpm between the 2 wheels.
Reider Racing and Sam Strano sell them. Reider is the exclusive US distrubutor, as near as I can tell. Sam buys them from Reider and charges a mere $10 more, but Sam also includes useful info' like you need new carrier bearings to complete the install, so he gets my purchase.
