USA V8 Supercar
Thought I was kidding ?
After meeting with a half dozen track owners or investors and a couple of sponsors, the tentative rules for USA V8 Supercar are down.
The Solstice frame with any make 5.0 V8 engine and any bodywork was considered.
Actual C5 or C6 Corvettes ALONG with any stock car or tube frame chassis that could mount the OEM Corvette bodywork was considered. (V8 crate engines at specified HP for all cars. And the stock car chassis could also mount any bodywork shape and any make engine.)
But here is what was chosen:
Any C2 or C3 Corvette replacement frame with an added roll cage that matches the front windshield location and angle. Any make 350 HP V8 circle track crate engine. Any bodywork not longer or wider than the C3 Corvette bodywork. Swinging doors not required. Front air dam and side skirts not allowed. Rear deck spoiler only. 2600 pound minimum weight.
More detail:
There are several aftermarket manufacturers of Corvette C2 or C3 frames. These frames mount either the C3 A-arms or the C4 A-arms. The wheelbase is 98". Any such frame marketed as a C2 or C3 Corvette replacement frame is allowed.
The added roll cage can mount a windscreen but should mount a plexiglass windshield and must mount floorpan and firewalls. Coupe without side glass or convertible allowed.
Races beginning in mid 2012 with a full series in 2013.
Also to be a successful racing class and series, there must be a West Coast professional series with ten weekends or more and a East Coast professional series with ten weekends or more. The class can be a supporting event. The race format per weekend is two 75 mile races.
Additionally to be a successful racing class there must be club classing for the cars.
Expect to see more details...everywhere.
