I'm looking for the average amount that people have moved their tie rods up or down to correct their bump steer problems, I may have to lower my rack down into my K-member by about an inch down to clear a stroker oil pan, I'm just looking to see if lower the rack closer to the ground, would be a really bad idea or could it be a good thing. Maybe even down and to the front of the engine if needed. Thinking I opening a bag of worms on this one. What are all the other guys doing with a stroker motors. The car gets driven cross country and a road and track events.
I think moving the rack down an inch (and especially out) will significantly affect bump steer/ misalignment between tie rods and A arms. At a minimum you could run out of threads and safe clamping force on the tie rods. I'd look for a bump steer kit that can compensate for how much you move the rack and to give more thread engagement on tie rods. There are gauges to calculate angle for bump steer if you want it that close or just move the tie rods the same as you move the rack, although that is mostly for up/down, moving the rack out could throw it off or maybe you wouldn't notice.
