Question High Lift ASA Cam

I’ve been trying to read up on what the best RR/AutoX cam for my build. (LS 408 forged crank, rods and pistons, CnC’d 799’s Holly Hi-Ram 660 springs BTR shaft-mount rockers, 4l80 3200 stall @ 4000lbs 73 C10, 3.70 gear 335/30R18s) Would this be a good fit for my
combo or ??? Currently it has a BTR Stg 5 N/A LS3 cam (235/251 .640"/.625" 112+3) Have not run cam yet, just one I had on the shelf.

Thanks for any and all recommendations.

I’m not sure where you’re at but the few road courses I’ve run, and most that I am aware of, won’t let trucks run track days. AutoX you may be ok. However, at least as far as road racing, you’ll need to keep an eye on trans temps with that auto, and be aware that the 4” stroke of that 408 imparts a lot of sideloading on the pistons as they start going from BDC back up. Oil will be very important here. I learned this lesson the hard way when I nuked my 408 at Road America last summer.

This C10 is my buddies truck and while this video is older... it still ripped in that form. I helped build the 416 LS3 in it and supplied the T56 Magnum. It has big time engine setback and still ran the stock style rear axle/suspension which worked surprisingly well. It has since had a 442ci LS engine installed with 9" IRS style rear and the front end completely redone with different suspension and aero/front splitter.

If you want to be competitive you probably need to get rid of that 4L80e and that hi ram intake manifold which is killing torque. Most of the fast C10/Blazers in his class (Optima and Good Guys AutoX) have engine setback and I believe all of them are manual transmissions.
