Should he go ahead and buy some suspension mods, put the money in brakes instead and work on consistency, or just wait and save the money for tires and pads? I've heard a lot of people look back and wish they would have modded slower so they'd know the characteristics of thier car better. Anyone have any input?

With that said:
The 1st thing I'd do is get some wheels and tires. Kumho V700's seem to do great on these cars.
The second thing is a Helmet (borrowing them gets old really fast <img src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" border="0"> )
If he mods the suspension, he will end up if ESP or SM. My SCCA region has a KILLER ESP class. (Its been dominated for the passed 3 yrs by a '95 Cobra R)
I'd also pick up an SCCA Rule Book, their cheap.
Does he have the 1LE suspension? If so, that's great. Leave it alone. If not, he could do a "suspension package", but anything that is "adjustable" is something that will need to be set right to get the desired results. Hope this helps
