Manual steering rack conversion Has anyone yet tried one of the manual steering rack conversions on a race track? I'd be willing to up up with some parking lot playtime to get some steering feel and a 30 pound weight reduction. But if it's simply too hard to drive, that's not a good plan... I drive some of the slower/curvier tracks mostly (not autoX though) so that's probably a consideration.
Re: Manual steering rack conversion Madman & Company make a manual rack conversion for our cars... They are one of our sponsors. I would think it would be nice since there is such a thing as too much power assist for high speed cornering.

Re: Manual steering rack conversion My rack is 3 turns lock to lock. I havent tried one on a road race style car but the feel on a drag car is killer.
Re: Manual steering rack conversion personally, I wouldnt run one. After a 20 minute session, you will be toast. Quick corrections with the wheel are going to be not so quick. Id keep it, and find another place to take out 30#s.

Re: Manual steering rack conversion I bought a shorter belt to eliminate the power steering on my car and it sucked. I had to fight to steer the car (275/40zr17) <img border="0" alt="[bang head]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_banghead.gif" />
Re: Manual steering rack conversion Ive thought about this too, and while at higher speeds the car moves REALLY quick, at slow driving it feels just about right with the 275s, I cannot imagine how hard it would be to turn at a crawl without the PS.
