More questions....
I'm still trying to decide how to set up my car for road racing and I am searching brakes and wheels.
I want to put Z06 rims, 17" front, 18" rear on my Z28. I also may just take the plunge and go for the Wilwood setup. Now, I have been told they will not fit and I would need larger studs and possible a 1/2" spacer?
Does anyone have any info about this?
Thanks!! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

Don't know about the Wilwood setup, but if you're runnng a Z28, you may want to consider the C5 brake upgrade. ~700 bux
If your ride is an LS1 Z28, your brake aren't far from the C5. Upgrade the rotors to a GMPP and slap in some Hawk pads and you'll be fine. ~300 bux
The other end of the spectrum is the 'Movit' brake package. ~2500 bux for the front kit that gives you the Porsche brakes using 4 or 6 piston calipers and 13.5" rotors.

Same kit as Mov'it from Prospeed Motorsports is $1500 till July 25th.

This is what I'm getting. You will probably need to run wheel spacers and longer studs with it though.

I would steer clear of going with more tire on the rear, this could cause a pretty bad push in the car. The f-body is pretty neutral in stock form. Most important question is what kind of tires are you going to run? Is this a true road race car? Open track days? Autocrossing?

Guys, thanks for the replys. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />
Now, I'm going to throw a wrench into this and say that right now there are 2 18 x 9.5 and 2 18 x 10.5 rims in my living room. I'm thinking about 265/40 and 295/35 and going with the BFG KD's. My car is a daily..... good days.... so I want it to look good, and I want to do some open track days with some autoX thrown in. I'm not out to be on top, just have tons of fun!! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />
I went with an instructor in his Z06 for a ride at Summit Point in his Z06 and he had 18" on the front, 17" on the rear. I guess it is all about what you want, and what you do...... maybe the "push" is in a Z06 too?
My brain hurts and all I want to do is put bigger rims on and order tires...... <img border="0" title="" alt="[Razz]" src="gr_tounge.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />
Thanks again guys!!! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Cool]" src="gr_images/icons/cool.gif" />

one theory about running wheel combos like that instructor has is that the 18's in front help steering(stiffer sidewalls), and the 17's in back will help acceleration(softer sidewalls)...
that's only if you keep the same tire diameter front to back though

since the Z06 has a different geometry to the suspension (than the F-body) and the way it performs, the tire/wheel size are a part of that.
Get yourself a set of 17" wheels, like Fiske or factory SS, and put a good set of dual purpose wheels on them.
When I ran my SS, I ran 16" Z28 wheels with either Hoosier or Goodyear 'R' compound tires at the track and would switch them back to the 17" streets afterwards.
Were you at Summit this past June 22nd (with N.A.S.A.)or at a F.A.T.T. (Friday at the Track)?

Well, here is what I am doing. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />
After speaking to Mike at Extreme, Rick at LG, and a few local places I am going with the 18" all around with the 265/35 and 295/35 KD's. The Wilwoods have been ordered with polished hats so now I have to think about springs and shocks or go with coil-overs.
I've also been talking to Ben at Dilusi.com who has been very helpful with everything, so we are going to discuss suspension now.
So, the wheels and tires could be on by the weekend, and the brakes should be here in 2 weeks!! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Cool]" src="gr_images/icons/cool.gif" />
I was at Summit for the FATT on June 21. We are registered for the Nov. 8 session, which will be my first time driving and I am so excited to do this!!
