As I udnerstand what I should basically do to prepare my car for this event is to do the following?
Get hawk blue race pads
Either ATF or Castrol SRF brake fluid
Earls Stainless steel brake lines.
change power steering fluid?
Is this all? Also with relation to these specific items, where can hawk blue pads, the brake fluid, and the stainless steel brake lines be purchased? Also, if I change my brake fluid to either castrol or ATF blue, will this hurt my stock brake system and do I need to put stock brake fluid back in after the event? Also, is there any other type of power steering fluid I should change to for the event and again can this stay in the car or do I need to change back to stock after the event? Thanks for your help.

If this is your first time out....don't worry so much about mods.
Focus on the following:
Brake fluid - flush it & install the ATE Blue (or Gold) or the Castrol SRF. As I've noted, I'm using the Blue (since I sell it) and have never boiled the fluid. You leave the same fluid all the time....you should bleed it after the event (not nessecarily flush it).
Brake pads - I found that the stock pads were fine (for my track) until I went to race tires. Race pads will have a better pedal feel & modulation (and cost lots more)and have more friction and handle more heat, but I never had the stock pads go out on me, with street tires.
Brake hoses - well, it wouldn't hurt ... even for the street. It would firm up your pedal some. However, not a requirement.
Tires - don't worry about track tires ....yet. Find out if road racing is for you. Build up your skills until you find that you are overheating the street tires (they will loose grip .... get greasy).
Steering fluid - Wouldn't hurt to change it ... or not. How many miles (or how many years) on the fluid? You could put RedLine synthetic in it (it's just Dexron/Mercon auto trans fluid). Does your car have a steering fluid cooler, like my WS6 does?
Sooooooo.........
If you're just beginning, just check the car over change all of the fluids (steering not required, but wouldn't hurt) and go have fun. Do the mods as you get better...... you'll learn more that way, and won't have to dump a bunch at once.
Keep in mind ...... all the mods & stuff we are all talking about here are AFTER we have been doing this for a while.
Learn to drive FIRST..... that's your BIGGEST mod.!!!!

<strong>Now that is a long list..</strong></font><hr /></blockquote><font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">You think that is long? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Roll Eyes]" src="images/icons/rolleyes.gif" />
Been doing open tracking for 2 years ... from memory, here is my list of things to do BEFORE leaving for the track.
Race tires filled to 40psi cold
oil change and filter (7qts)
check trans fluid
check rear diff fluid
check coolant
drain PS reservoir and refill (Redline)
bleed brakes
change rotors and pads
exchange stock seat for racing seat
re-torque all rear suspension bolts
clean and replace air filter
Wash car (inside engine bay, underneath and exterior)
Then I have to go over the tow rig ...
engine oil
trans
air filter
air pressures
Trailer air pressures
spare tire
Then I load everything
extra engine oil, trans fluid, PS fluid, coolant
a left and right spare tire
replacement rotors and pads
tools
jack
helmet and garment bag
car on the trailer
I'm sure I've left something off. But, I've compiled a list and used a marker and put it on my shop fridge with a place for check marks. Makes it easier ...
Every winter I do a flush and fill of
coolant
trans
diff
I R&R
fuel filter
hoses
belts
hoses for my PS cooler
I also take ride height measurements and lateral measuremnts from frame points to see how the chassis is holding up.
Thanks for all the lists.
Well my BMR SFC's and relocation brackets came in yesterday. I should have time to weld them in this weekend.
I believe the Raleigh, NC crew now has four F-bods signed up for the Porsche club event at VIR Oct. 7. We'll definitely have pics and video.
