Default Quick tire question

I'm starting to look at tires and Kumho has a new street/comp. tire out the Ecsta V700. But you can't get a 315 only 335. I currently have GrandSports on the car and was wondering would the 335 on a 17x11 cause to much side wall flex or should I just stick with the 315s? Kumho said they will fit anything from a 11 to a 13. The tire has a 12.5" tread width.

They will fit the rim, they would be happier on a bit wider rim though.
Side note- the 335s are going to be rather unhappy under the car. I slaped a couple of 335 R1s on my 17X10.5 inch wheels and they did fit on the car with some minor rubbing. But-they were on a 10.5 wide wheel which made the tread width narrower. I actually think they would fit with a little work with a 11 to 11.5 inch wheel though.
I used the 335s because I bought them dirt cheap and wanted to use them as a "Go/No-Go" before I spent alot on some 315s. I figured that if I could get 335s to work, then 315s would go right on. Worked for me.
As to if they will work good on the 11 inch rim {as in work better than 315s}, try it. The book says min. 11 inch. I have 10.5s and 315 032Rs. Yoko says that the min. is 10.5 and they work pretty good. They seem to wear completly across the tread in a even fashion, I have not checked temps though. I also know they would be better on a 11 inch rim, but I have 10.5s and it seems to work.
Please try it and find out for sure as I've been thinking about getting my rims widened to about 11-11.25 and trying the same thing.
One thing for sure, the 335 R1s didn't like being on a 10.5 wheel at all! Handleing was evil, broke lose very abruptly with no warning. Traction in a straight line sucked because the entire tread could not contact the ground. Let air out and they would cup, add air and the edges would roll up and not contact. They did make good "Burnout" and "Donut" tires!!!
Serious give a try, all you will lose is a couple hundred bucks! That's nothing compared to being the 1st kid on the block with 335s!!!

I have the same rims and would like to know if they fit to. What car do you have a firebird or camaro there is a big differance 10mm. and are you lowered any? I am thinking of cutting the metal over the bump stop should buy me about 1" each side.

This is on my '94 Z28....there shouldn't be any difference on between the 2...or I wouldn't think so.

Yeah the 315s cleared pretty much no problem at all on the GS offset...just a little beating on the inner fender and I ground off the face of the bump stop (I'll probably just go ahead and take it all the way off).

I figured I would have to roll the fenders if I did it. I was just wondering how it would affect the handling of the car by going to a bigger tire and keeping the 11" wide wheels.

But are you lowered or not at stock (3" fender gap) you will be fine with the 315. Keep in mind most people with the 315 on a 11" rim are runing nitto's and the nitto 315 is more like a 295! the kumho is a real 335>>>

Well I have coil overs on it...so that can be changed. Currently it sits a little more than 1" lower than stock...I didn't go any lower with it yet because I"m still fighting the exhaust and getting it tucked up with dual 3" pipes

BigSS is right it will fit but I don't think the big hammer is going fix. But the die grinder will. So do it and tell us how it works so we can buy them.

I'm working on it...but there is no since in buying a sticky soft tire for a car thats going to sit for another couple months. I'll probably get them once I know the car is going to be running......so figure late May or so before I have them on it and running. I'll get pics up when I get it all together.
