Default First auto X event RESULT ARE IN !!!!!

I just got rid of my 18 that had 245/40/18 Sumitomo HTR+ on them. I had never done Auto x on them but it corners great. I now have my stock 16's on the car with 245/50/16 Kuhmo 711 up front however 255/50/16 BFG DR's on the rear. On May 15th I will be attending and Autox meet this a cone corse set up in a big parking lot. I'm a little worried about the DR's softer sidewall and possibly rolling the tire off the rim. Should I be worried about this?

DR's should be fine as long as they are only in the rear. Use some shoe polish or chalk where the tread meets the sidewall to see how far over you are wearing on them. If it goes past the tread, put a little more air in them.

You will probably find that you have more sidewall issues with the 711's up front (don't put the dr's on the front, thats not what I'm getting at). Just make sure to use chalk or shoe polish in a few spots on each tire to make sure you aren't rolling over too far.

I've seen a few Cobra guys run DR's on the back of their cars duing an autocross, and it sucked. It will not hurt your tires or your car, but you'll have a lot of oversteer. Air them up as much as you feel comfortable with (I ran my Kumho's at 42F/37R, but they arn't DR's). Good luck, you'll have a blast!

Well I ran my first autocross. The result were not very good. They put me in the street modified class so there were some good drivers. I was the only F-body there and the as well as the only V-8. Only 3 of my 8 runs counted. In placed 7th out of 9 cars in my class. I almost got into a scrap with one guy because "I was not taking the event serious enough" he said "this isn't a drifting contest". Most everyone else said I put on a good show. I got pretty crazy during the fun runs for a 1$ I was a great time and the best part no tickets. I was out there to have a good time and mess around. Next time I am going to take it more seriously.
