Default Rolex 24

I think a congratulations is in order for Katech for building 2 extremely durable engines for the GTO.R's that both just finished racing at the Rolex 24. #65 came in 2nd 3 laps behind the leader but still running strong. Sadly #64 finished 13th due to the fact that they only had 4th gear available late in the last hour. For a second the SPEED TV commentators thought the pontiacs had engine trouble, but apparently they didn't know they were running Katech engines!!!

Congratulations Katech on proving your engine building abilities once again!!

Thank you. The last couple of weeks I had been watching the GTO.R engines simulating laps at Daytona on the dyno for 3 days straight.

This is why our engine builds cost a bit more. They're built to race engine standards and as you can see the time and attention to detail shines through.

Do you need a special dyno for running the car up and down at different speeds and loads?

I was there.
Ironically, I was rooting for the #36 TPC Porsche which won the GT division because a friend of my friend was driving (it edged out the GTO), but the competition was stiff, the intensity was extremely high and all the cars out there took an incredible beating.

I did witness, up close, some incredible repairs take place in the paddock (watching Reese's Vette's tranny get swapped out at 5am was very educational).

Everyone should see this event in person at least once in their life.

I thought TRG won the team championship last year (GT) but your buddy won the driver championship.

I wouldn’t say he edged out the GTO.R, I would say he launched his Porshce off an embankment into the side of the GTO.R ... but hey ... rubbin' is racin

I saw that on tv last year! Crazy. That launch for the win was not cool in my book.

The driver we were rooting for this weekend was Spencer Pumpelly, he's an instructor at Skip Barber and taught my bud.
I should rephrase, the #36 car won the GT class during this weekend's 24 hour race.

Nevertheless, I'm still coming off my high from being there this weekend. Makes me want to quit my career as an architect and get into motorsports.

I'm sorry - I assumed you meant Craig Stanton and the edging out comment made me think that. Sorry!

great footage on the race. I couldn't make it this year but, we will be at Sebring.

Congrats to everyone who finished...

...and what was it the blew out on the GTO in turn one? Did the diff lock or something? Loose a half shaft? In car shot looked a little hairy.

I think they said something on the left side . . . don't take my word for it, but i THINK that's what they said.

anyone else think people are trying to make Danica Patrick out to seem better than she is? dont get me wrong, she's a great driver but not having WON a signle race should say something. i hope she wins soon though, i'd hate to go for so many years without a win . . . . maybe it's the teams she's been on?
