Default Anyone here autocross?

Has anyone here autocross competitively with their F-body.
I'm going to try Stock class when season begins. "A Stock" to be exact going againt NSX, S2000, EVO, STi and Boxter. So I think the odds are against me already

There are a bunch of autocrossers on here. Sounds like you have an SS/ws6 . That is not going to be a competitive car in AS. From a sheer index point of view, you are slightly better off going straight to ESP. Your car can be very competitive there once you start with the mods.

Either way, autocrossing is all about fun, and no matter what class you run, you will have fun.

Thanks for the reply. I do have a ws6 and after talking with Sam strano he agreeded that the car should be in F stock instead of A stock. Now I gotta what's involved in ESP class!

I run a 99 Formula in FS. Strano is the man to talk to about setting up an f-body, espically for ESP. If you follow his suggestions, he can setup your car very, very well.

But, by far the most important thing is seat time. Even if you are running in AS aginst Boxsters and Vettes, any seat time is good seat time. When in doubt, get more seat time.

My experience tells me to play with the tire pressure, maybe 40lbs, drop whatever weight you can, and try to exploit the only advantage you have: the LS1. I know autocross is technical and the smaller more agile cars are more adept to that kind of excersise but you have to use the qualities your car has. Besides, powersliding a killer LS1 around the course will be entertaining as hell to the other drivers!

ls1 fbodies are some of the fastest stock autocross cars out there. You'd be very suprised what an fbody with a decent set of shocks can do.

As for ESP, there is a lot you can do. Talk to Sam, and read the rule book

It was proposed but never happened. The proposal stated that they were waiting to see results from nationals, however no one drives an ss in AS for nationals since most people like winning.

I think the ss should go to FS, but be treated as an opion package to the z28, allowing the wheels/suspension to be swapped on to the z28

As Rushman said, "Read the Rulebook" It doesn't take much to jump out of E Street Prepared into C Prepared. And C Prepared is the home of very wide slicks and completely gutted and roll caged cars. I made this mistake and all it took was some internal engine mods and subframe connectors. But that was a few years ago. Maybe more allowances have been made to ESP. But again. Get a rulebook and read. Go to a solo and drive, whatever class they put you in.

Why can't an SS compete in AS, Rushman? Just busting some *****...but from what I have seen, I can compete.

You are allowed to compete, all I meant was that the SS is not as fast an autocross car as an s2000 or a c4 vette
