Default Tire fit questions...

Does anyone know if 265/45 R16 Kumho V710s will fit on a stock 16x8 wheel? I know the old Victoracers would fit at that size, but Tire Rack is showing that 8.5 is the minimum width for the 710s.

If those don't work, I'm leaning toward getting some of the new Hoosier A6s. Tire Rack says that even the 275/45 R16s will fit an 8 inch rim (275?!). I may just go conservative with the 255/50s...

I swear next year I'm going to have to just budget in buying some bigger used wheels.

yes they will fit. i have them on my rims now. i was looking for some 17s just for slicks, but found a set of 16s, so i was in the same boat youre in. keep them for a year or so, then look for some 17s. EVERYONE makes tires in 275/45/17.

Great, thanks for the information!

As for the 275 that I was surprised at, note that it's on a 16 inch tire. My street tires are 275/45 R17s so that doesn't surprise me. 275/45 R16 does.

i guess its been done. i think 275s on 16s are a little much. the 265s are already a stretch, theyre not a perfect fit, but they work. id either settle for the 265s, or wait till you find some 17in rims.

Yeah I agree. I ordered the 265s and will use those up this season. Next spring I'll grab some 17s.

On a side note, does anyone know the widest tire you can fit on both the front and back (I need to be able to rotate them) of a '99 TA with out having to do any body modifications? I can't have any rubbing, of course...

Without doing anything, a 275 or maybe a 295 is about as wide as you can go. 315's will fit with a little fender pounding and careful selection of wheel offset.

i have 17x11's all the way around and 335 on the back and 285's on the front. i have no rubbing either. i will put 335's on the front as soon as i find some. offset is the key to fitting big wheels/tires.

from what ive heard, a 36mm offset in 17x11 is perfect for TAs, since we have a bit larger wheel well then camaros. with that, you hopefully wont get rubbing, and will be able to swap front-rear. having stock suspension helps too, that way youre almost sure not to rub. lowered.......dont know.

Ah yeah I didn't even think to mention that I don't have the stock suspension. I'm running Eibach springs so I'm something like 1.5-2" lower all the way around.

I'm guessing 275 or 285 is probably going to be the best I can do without modifying the body.
