I recently took my Z06 rims and BF Goodrich G-Force tires off my car for a track day and put my SS rims with Nitto NT-01 on my car. Suddenly I was one of the fastest drivers in my class. WOW!! What a difference. The combination of the stickey tires and shedding 24lbs of unsprung weight made a huge difference.

I recently read this thread where a guy had his rims streteched two inches.

https://ls1tech.com/forums/wheels-tires/813077-widened-ws6-wheels.html

I was thinking about have this done to my SS wheels. I was thinking that it would provide additional grip on the one hand but on the other hand it might also increase the amount of unsprung weight. The Nittos can accomodate an 11 inch wheel. I have 274/40/17 on each wheel.

The wider wheel would be to your advantage over the unsprung weight, but the issue comes from the wheel measurements offset/backspacing. You can do it, but you would need longer studs and a spacer.

For $200 per wheel your better off just buying some aftermarket wheels, I have a lot of buddies that run "cheap" wheels at the track and we have had no problems.

There are some nice wheels on the Tire Rack, the gray C6 Z06 style for $135 a piece for 17's and $160 each for 18's. I tried to post a link but it's not working. Just take a look.

I would run 18x10.5's all around I've seen people fit 305-25-18s up front and 335-35-18 rear Toyo RA1's. The fronts rub the top edge just a bit but the rubber will rub off. If your really worried about it just find a 295 to run instead.

Just my $.02

rather than widen those wheels i would get some real stock Z06 wheels... they would be lighter, stronger and you wouldnt have to widen them.

I already have a set of Z06 wheels. My SS wheels are lighter. I use my SS wheels for road racing.

The tires made the differance in your lap times, plus the seat time.
