Default before and after track times with cam swap

got some track numbers, still just the 1/8th. before was .68 ar and stock cam. after is .96 ar and 2001 z06 cam. set up is a 5.3 with just cam and springs in a fairmont. mp70 turbo, ebay intercooler, 50lb injectors, truck intake.

before at 8psi we ran 7.46@94.8, this week at the same 8psi with the same 60' we ran 7.12@99.5

before at 18psi we ran a 6.63@106, this week at 15psi(turbo maxed out) and the same 60' we ran a 6.51@110.5

our best 60' so far was a 1.55 with most of them in the 1.6's. we are going to get a 15" rim on there and then some fresh tires that are a bit wider and maybe taller. we are also going to try some adjustments with the suspension. we will keep working with traction till we are at least cuting some consistant 1.4's.

110.5 is prety fast in the 1/8th. i think it will run out the rest of the 1/4 just fine. i dont think there is much more we can do to make more power. the turbo is maxed. the injectors are at over 95% and my log shows around 12/1 a/f ratio on our last run so they are prety much done. the motor can't be too far from being maxed out and we haven't even checked the fuel presure but we have to be near the limit for the fuel pump. i am prety excited to spend some time on the suspension and tires just to see what we can do with it. we have a few ideas.

after many dyno runs, street tuning and track runs we have our first problem. there is an ocasional heavy smoke. not there all the time. must be the turbo seals or something to do with the turbo oiling system. we didn't put any restrictor in the oil line. going to try and get that done and hope that takes care of the problem.

kyle got lots of video from many diferent angles. should be a sweet video when he gets it together.

I read that and though thats friggin awesome for a 5.3 in a truck lol, I kinda missed the fairmont thing until a re-read it

Sounds like a fun project, a fairmont is just a slightly uglier Fox body - they get no love

Sorry...I am asking about the fuel return line back into the fuel cell. It looks like it goes right into the sump on the fuel cell?

some people say that it swirls the fuel right at the sump, but i have my doubts that it hurts it...... i drilled a hole in the side of my cell and blocked the other sump off. figured i would use it for a drain when switching fuels.

obveosly it is working for you, must be more bs.

how is the msd setup working out for you guys?? still like it alot?? i have decided to use megasquirt, just dont know if i want to use hptuners or msd setup for the spark.

msd is working just fine. no issues at all. we have completely maxed out the turbo at a little over 600rwhp and are reving to about 6400 now with no issues. it was super easy to set up and tune.

$400 for a mega with harness, $250 for the msd. $650 for a complete stand alone set up. we are also using the mega to run our fans, fuel pump and as a boost controler(tps and rpm mapable). all that added about $50 in parts.

Did you assemble the megasquirt, or buy it done? I have a 6.0 going into a coupe and looking at options....

$330 is the assembled unit. $70 for the harness. it needed a few extra parts added to run the extra stuff we are running but as shiped it is ready to run low z injectors.

not sure. we do have a problem developing. random heavy smoke. it has to be something in the turbo. we didn't put any oil restrictor in the line so i am going to do that before we take it out again.

Im running the same combo t70 .96 and stock 5.3
3200lbs race weight, running e85 no intercooler.
4.10 gears, 275/60/15 mt drag radials.

Im hoping for 7.00 flat at 9psi but I dont know if my gear is going to kill that . I read somewhere that the stock truck springs dont like to rpm past 5500 or so RPMS.

what do you think?
