Mobil 1 for synthetic, and Castrol GTX for regular. I won't use anything else...unless it is somebody elses car. 5w30 for both.

and what do you suppose i use as my search topic?
i tried a search and it didnt really answer my questions
i would imagine the "best" oil would be a slightly subjective thing as well....

5w30 is plenty thick enough. If I am not mistaken, that is what comes in the Corvettes from the factory. I would not bother with 10w30 until you have a lot of miles and you are worried about leaks.

the 30w is too thin actually. I just found this out a couple days ago, there was a thread on oil testing in here, what the hell happened to it? I just searched for it and found squat. Use the German made Castrol 0w30 or the Mobil 1 0w40.

I am switching this oil change to one of those, I have been running Mobil 1 5w30 for the past 5 years, and it seems to work. But Mobil 1's weights BARELY meet that weight class, so the 30 weight is barely 30, etc.

Damn I am pissed I can't find that thread, it was GREAT! It was started by Pro Stock John I think.

Yeah switch to syn. it won't be a problem. Royal purple is tooo expensive, good but why bother. Go with either of the 2 I mentioned, they scored the best in that oil test, I KNOW that part of the thread

This is my Exprience on this Subject. I personally work a Kwik kar OilLube&Tune... I've been in the Oil change business for 4 years... Royal Purple Sucks... Plain and Simple... The Only time i would Consider running Royal Purple in my car is if it was Brand New (5kMiles) or so... For example, I was in your shoes about 1 year ago, I was all into HP and thought i could Squezze alittle more outa my Motor by runing "Proven Horsepower Gain" Oil. After 1k miles on the oil change of Royal Purple 10W30 i burned up a Quart of oil !!! EEK... So i burn about 3 quarts in 3k Miles of the Oil change... Keep in mind i had 45k miles on the motor(that proable had alot to do with it) Royal Purple is nothing Special, It's a Putroleum based oil nothing more.. Well very disapointed i was, i went back to Conventional oil.. Im Currently Running Valveoline 10W30 without burning a Single drop in 3k miles =) Hope this helps out a bit bro

P.S-Everyone please keep in mind that this is my own exprience =)

I haven't had any oil burn in my car in 83k miles, just in case you are wondering. Full synthetic since new.

Royal Purple worked fine until i did a Cam. Then i was burning a quart every 1,000 miles. I switched to Red line and totally took care of that problem. I just built a new motor this month so im still using dino oil until i get atleast 5K on the block. Then i will switch to the German Made Castro as mentioned above. Its much cheaper and all the results look very positive. I have always used a 5W30. Before i tried out the Royal Purple i was running the Mobil One.

The Previous Owner of my vechicle went with Castrol 10W30 from day one... That's proable the Reason why my car hates Synthetic Oils... I picked Vavloline because of how clean looking it is.. I have no complaints =) Just turns alittle Brown at the 3k mark to let me know it needs to be changed =)
