Default Can I re-use my crank bolt that I just installed?

I just did my cam about a month ago, and my ASP pulley was supposed to be here by that time, however, it was on back order until recently. My question is, can i re-use the "new" crank bolt that I installed a month ago or do I need to get another one?

Use a new one, unless you think an ASP skipping across the pavement is hella cool.

nope, you cant use it. its TTY, you'll need a new bolt to seat the pulley properly.

did your pulley finally come in?

Agree with the others. Never reuse a Torque-to-yield bolt. Spend the extra $3 and get a new bolt. While you're at it, get a few of them so you'll have one handy if you need to pull the pulley in the future.

Finally About a month and a half after teh fact. The wierd thing is that I called to cancel my order, to order from a different company on Thursday. They said that they still didnt get a new shipment yet, and then I got the pulley on Friday. LOL

Now the messed up thing is that I have to buy or borrow a breaker bar now that I gave you yours back. Duoh. Oh yea, I found your cylinder stop yesterday. Ill try to get that back to you as soon as I can.

I had to put in new O2 sensors this week so mike can re-tune the car, and I ran across it in one of my boxes.

I kinda knew that I shouldnt re-use the bolt, but I guess my penny pinching side comes out from time to time. Mainly, I was just trying to avoid a drive down to GM.

Thats a good idea about getting extra bolts for the future. I think I just might do that. Thanks.

I was gonna say that you could re-use it, but I guess I was wrong!!! Phew... I was planning on using the "new" one also from my cam swap when I also did a UD pulley.

Where is the best place to pick one up? Dealership?

see if you can rent a breaker bar and tq from autozone or something. you can mail me the TDC stop, no sense in driving down for a part that im not in a huge hurry to use anyway.

how'd the retune go?

Wasn't there an article in GM high tech performance a while back where they installed an ASP and used the same bolt?? I'm pretty sure it was Morgan Motorsports and they used the same bolt. Anybody got their magazines lying around??

you use the old bolt to seat the pulley but you use the new one to torque down on.

Guess that means I should replace my bolt huh. It's been six months since my ASP install. The worst part is a performance shop did it and said we could reuse the bolt. Maybe I should put my new March Pulleys on with the new bolt sooner than planned.
