Default Circle D Specialties

.........moves me!!

I cant say enough good things about Circle D Specialties and the level of amazing customer service, ordering/issue support, feedback, and RESULTS I received!

It all started with a call to Chris at Circle D. (713-895-8834 http://www.circledspecialties.com/ ). I talked with him about what I wanted to do with my car and he recommended the herculean Billet Street Series - Stage I converter in +4C trim with a serious 4,200 stall. In less then a week my freshly custom built converter arrived at the door.

It is an imposing piece. solid billet front, billet piston, high carbon lock up clutch, furnace brazed and hand tig'd, welds are pure butter and it only weighed a whopping 32 pounds!

I put it in the car and unfortunately I had also installed an HD2 kit into the trans which is an incorrect kit for 2005+ trannies (thanks for the heads up TransGo ). Long story short I smoked the 3-4 clutch pack and roasted the trans in 5 mins. Before I could even ask Chris about the converter he had already contacted me telling me to send the converter back so he could cut/clean and check the new piece out. It arrived to his shop on a Friday, and that afternoon I received a call from his front office telling me it was freshened up and already on the way back to me! Now thats fast service!

In the mean time I had a Top Gear Motorsports Dominator 4L65E built and also week before the fiasco I had installed some 3/4'' LT headers and some 275 Nitto DRs.

Fast forward to last night I had the trans all broken in and ready to roll and it was time to see what my baby Goat could do.

The converter is VIOLENT to say the least. Street driving makes the shifts seamless, and after a self tranny tune with TCC adjustments the high carbon lockup clutch connects with authority. Those who are afraid of going big on stall are worrying for nothing.

Anyhoo, the track. Previous best was 12.98@108 on stock tires with 1.9 60ft. After the Circle D +4C, trans, headers and DRs, new PB is 12.41@108 w/ 1.70 60ft! Did I mention this was on a 3,560 lb car with a baby launch? Density Altitude for previous and current best were in the same +2,000ft ballpark. That converter spools this motor up HARD. Heavy STR, Im multiplying well down the strip and the converter is looser than Brittany Spears (just like I like it!). I rolled a few feet out and had to stab the gas, manually shifting, just to get the 2nd gear burnout baked DRs any fighting chance of hooking this monster. Flash stall is 4,200 Rs, shift extension drops right to 5,100RPM. If I can get a foot brake hard launch the car is easy 1.6x & 12.3x or better all day long. And like I said, street driving is completely butter. I eliminated 3rd lockup and the tranny goes 1-2-3-4 seamless and locks up perfect at 44MPH and wont unlock unless more then 50% TPS is commanded (Im getting good at HPT lol). No negative affects in gas mileage believe it or not. Looking for what stall speed to get? Go big or go home

All in all, Circle D gets an A++ from me. Give Chris a call and go with the best of the best and have Circle D......move you!

Great report man! 6/10 drop in ET without getting aggressive is sweet!!!! I knew you would be impressed with it.

I'm glad you got all the transmission bugs taken care of.

Thanks! I learned a lot about tranny tuning by looking at the file you sent me and doing tons of research and nailed it perfect the first time out. Thanks for your help and thanks for turning me on to Circle D. It was one of your posts while I was searching for converter brands that finally sold me on calling Chris. Glad I made the call!

Have you ever owned a high stall converter before this one?
