Alternator voltage regulator wire came out of pigtail

So I pulled my alternator to have it tested, trying to track down an idle surge and dipping volt meter issue. The red wire that goes into the weather-tite connector and plugs into the voltage regulator was loose and pulled clean out of the connector.

What's the solution? Can I buy a pigtail that I can solder or crimp onto the wire harness?

Alternator tested fine...

i know those weatherpack connectors can be rebuilt............but i have never done it........nor do i have the tools......you can get a new connector off ebay for bout 11$

I found a pigtail on ebay for $15 shipped, but I wasn't sure if it's the right one (bad pics)

Stealership wanted $45

AutoZone has them in stock for $30 (Duralast P/N 494, listed as "neutral saefty switch connector")

Jegs and Summit both sell one for about $25 + Shipping (Painless P/N 30705)

Hope this helps the next guy.

Just imagine how much we could charge if we stamp a MIL Spec number on it and sell to the government.

The crimp connectors for the terminals are available for a few cents, but the special crimping tools can run over $100 used. (GM dealers have kits with the repair parts, but... I'm sure they would rape you on the cost to install.)
