Question Stock motor mounts w/ LT's ?

I was thinking about getting a set of new GM motor mounts to use with my long tube headers instead of using the poly mounts . I dont want to deal with any excessive vibrations of poly .
Has anybody used new rubber mounts w/o problems on LT's ?

IDK how they will work but just do something about it. The banging getting really annoying sometimes. I should have got my set of poly mounts but I was TOO anxious to install my LT's

The vibration wont be "excessive". But on stock motor mounts, you'll more than likely have your Y banging into your floorboard.

I did my Y and MM's at the same time and couldn't love them more. All my friend have stayed with stock MM's and the Y hits the floorboard.

Do it right the first time and do the prothane mounts. Plus, it's a Camaro, not a Benz.

I think you would later regret not going with poly mounts because the Y almost always bangs unless you are at factory ride height and adjust it for plenty of clearance. They are pretty easy to install with the headers off but a pain to install with them on. The vibration isn't that bad.

I also noticed that when the tranny mount is done with the MM's then the vibration isn't felt (or as much).

The tranny mount will "bend" if the motor mounts are poly, and vice versa. Do them both at the same time and enjoy it that much more.

Except I read NOT to use poly for the trans mount, due to excessive vibration when used with poly MMs...

if you grind the 2 bumps down to where they are flush with the mounting tabs and don't use the long flat washer in the kit then it won't make any noise... i would do all 3 at the same time as was stated above... if you do the trans mount only you risk breaking the trans case and if you do the motor mounts only it can cause the trans to jump around

Or you can bolt you exhaust after the y down to the exhaust hanger with a u bolt. thats what I did and it works great. It just holds it down enuf os it doesn't bang on the floorboard or vibrate

I love my solid motor mounts. Poly motor mounts can't feel that bad.

I also love my true duals and encourage anyone to consider them over a y-pipe.

Eddie, let me know how your TSP catted y-pipe fits. I have been thinking of replacing my ory with one in the future even though it fits pretty good but the smell is sometimes annoying, thanx.

you should def. do the poly motor and trans mounts before you put the headers in place. i did the headers and y pipe, had the problem of the pipe hitting the floor, it was so bad i couldnt even get on it in first or second. then i put the motor and trans mounts in and the difference was night and day, the banging went away completely and the vibrations were minimum at best, even with the a/c on the car is completely liveable, i daily drive the car and cant say i notice them any more. i just can express enough how much more difficult it is with the headers in place. learn from my mistake or curse yourself later.

I think the extra heat from the headers break down and weaken the stock motor mounts.install poly motor and trans mounts.don't use solid mounts on the trans!
