Cool. What hood are you using to clear that tall intake? I have the big block hood and it is close in the front with just an LS1 intake.

I'm using a factory 73 hood and the fit is real close after I removed the front mount boss for the vortec cover and trimmed the other projections near the front. I'm gonna make a new set of motor mounts this weekend that will lower the motor a 1/2 inch and that will take care of any future clearance issues. I liked the looks of the truck manifold it has that brutal functional look like a Messerschmidt 109 fighter, and even more important according to a dyno test in July 04 Chevy High Performance it came within 3 hp and 3 ft. lb. of torque of the F.A.S.T. intake on a 425 horse LS1. By the way Chevys best looking car deserves the best engine f@#% keeping it all original I want to go fast. Stan

Yea the truck intake stays. Modifying the harness myself, put the e.c.m. in the jack compartment behind the seats. Now I know why Speartech wants so much to make a harness, its no picnick even for a Master Tech with 30 years experience. But I will be sending the e.c.m. to him for programing as soon as done with the engine mods. Stan

Default 6.0l to a muncie 4 speed

I'm a new member to this forum looking for information. I'm putting a 6.0 ls1 in a 1956 chevrolet maited to a 4speed muncie with factory bell housing. I'm note sure what flywheel to use. I know there are two different tooth flywheels I can use,Then the question is what starter and clutch can I use,are these engines balanced internally, so if I change to a manual flywheel I won't have a balance problem?

All the manual flywheels for the ls1 are the same . I used a steel flywheel that I got off e-bay and a Corvette z-06 clutch and pressure plate. You can see the flywheel at e-bay # 7986415316 . dont use buy it now youll pay to much, he has them listed all the time, it is a nice hi quality unit. use the lakewood bell housing to hook up any trans that would bolt to the old smallblock. Same starter for auto or manual and internal balanced. You will have to use the 71-up muncie or m-22 with the fine spline imput shaft to use the z-06 clutch. Stan
