hey fiends. last summer i purchased a clear front license plate cover. i did the front lighted bird mod. i am a bit unhappy with my paint. i would like to remove the paint, and re-do it. i want my lines a little more "crisp".
what product would i use to remove the paint? it also has 1 coat of clear on it to seal my edges.
i was thinking on filling the plate (painted on the inside) with DOT3 brake fluid and letting it sit possibly over night.
is that a good way to go? what are your thoughts?
here is a pic of the first paint job and test fit and test of the wiring.
you can get that airplane paint stripper from autozone fairly cheap. brush on that stuff on and let sit for about 20 min and the paint will fall off.
Edit: on second thought that stuff might eat the plastic too... I'm pretty sure the stripper is safe for most abs plastics used on cars but I don't know what they made the clear license plate cover out of.
your best bet would be to use nail polish remover.

Likely the paint is oil based and so is the plastic, so any oil paint remover solvent you use will have a possibility of eating the plastic. you would just have to be carefully to only use the solvents on just the paint.
