What year cavalier was that fan from? It’s hard to beat a 90’s Taurus fan. Pretty much a necessity to flow 5000-6000CFM with a small radiator IMO. Not saying the cavalier won’t work, just curious if I can look up the flow.

I have issues and used advanced IDLE timing/VE control due to the non-linear 160lb injectors. 17-22* should idle like stock with 80lb injectors. I was just mentioning the higher you have the timing the higher the idle will be. Dropping it down to 9* from 38* and it should lower the idle down to something more manageable until he can find his leak. I’m sure with a wide open dump it’s not pleasant working on the car at that RPM.

I’d suggest pressurizing the whole system with shop air and hosing it down with soapy water. If no major leaks show, take another look at the idle bypass port. Curious how he blocked it off…

Drove it for about 15miles. Stop and go traffic, 92 degrees here in AZ right now. And didnt see over 208* fan seems to be doing good.

I dropped the timing to about 13 at idle and it idles alot better. Doesnt hunt for an idle anymore. Thx for that forcefed!

Does that turbo seem like it's chomping at the bit to spool? Or does it seem pretty lazy?

BTW, that red dash pad is SWEEET!

Took it for a long ride. Drove it for about an hour or so
For some reason my alternator is not charging. It shows 14.5 volts with it running and never drops, but the second i turn the car off and try to start it again the battery is drained.
i have the brown wire plugged on the alternator to a 5 volt source with a light bulb instead of the resistor.
any help on this?

I ran the large case alternator and just ran a cable from the stud on the back. It defaults and runs great.

I'd be blown away if that little radiator and fan keep your setup cool especially once you start making some boost pulls.

As suggested the 3.8i Taurus V6 fan kicks serious ***. I believe it is rated at 4000cfm. I run one and it does suck

The car does look mean as hell though!

What year alternator?

So with a volt meter the alternator is charging 14v and if you shut the car off, then immediately try to turn it back on the battery is dead? Or it's draining the battery down over time when it's off?

I use 12v to the brown wire with a 500 ohm, 1/2 watt resistor which drops voltage down to 8.x I believe. Never had an issue. I believe its the older 98 camaro alternator though.

The alternator came with the long block i pulled from a 2004 tahoe.
My volt guage reads 14.5 with it running, never drops while im driving. But than when i shut it off after driving for a while the battery is dead.

Sounds like a bad battery to me. Have it load tested maybe?

What side of the shut off switch do you have it hooked up to?

I have the switch to kill the power to everything. So the battery post on one side and the other side goes to the engine bay.
