I took the heads to 2 shops and asked to have them machined. But the machining required a profile to miss the Intake Ports and the Rocker cover bolt lugs. There are cut reliefs in the new Rocker mounting brackets to miss them. So its not a straight forward one direction cut, it needed a CNC profile. Both shops where not interested in the risk involved if they scrapped a head....
So it was do it youself time again...
Made a 6 Degree Mounting plate for the heads so the Rocker mounts where now flat..
It would be impressive for a normal person but our Clive isn't normal! I mean, what normal person takes a perfectly adequate car (ultima GTR) and decides it just not good enough so builds his own at the same time engineering everything he can to make it better all by himself?
Or what about the guy that builds a replica of famous racing car that will actually be better, and probably faster, than the original? That's not normal.
This little bit of head work should be a walk in the park for our old Clive!
(This is by no means a dig Clive, just a sarcastic big thumbs up mate!!! )
That's just so long an engine you would have to build the car around the motor.... Lovely work but so far out there, makes sense it was Funded by Dubai, and WTF is it with building a Hyper car with stupid Jet engine back end... never going to taken seriously...... But yes SM engines seems that guy knows whats he's doing Gold Star for engineering...
Well engine is coming along, been a while since I had time to work on it the 962 is taking all of my time recently. I have booked up to go to a show in town with both cars so have prioritized to get my engine in the frame for the show (Any excuse really) Motor plate is now done, it mounts the ancillaries, the timing chain cover, Cam sensor locator, water pump hose adapter and Semi Stressed engine mount. Love it when an Idea look this good..
Oh and my Delivery from Full Race just arrived... Happy Days...
Is that a large void in the side cowls, or is that for radiators etc ? Maybe locate turbos there ?
As for rear visibility....stick a normal rear view mirror, except via a rear view camera. You can get them with screens that basically replicate an interior mirror.
There are vents and allot of air flow into the end of the side pods just in-front of the rear wheels yes. I have that area all to play with as the Water Rad and AC rad are at the front, so I do have some options as far as packaging goes. I would prefer to put the turbos low down to keep the weight low as possible (also as I have a scavenge pump for the turbos), but heat management seems to be more Important, so one option is to have the turbos closer to the top of the body and have the Intercoolers below them in the direct air flow, then vents above the turbos to stop any rising heat from building up.
