Could you not mount the turbos close to the block? You could then still have big I tercoers in there but would allow easier filter routing. It's just if you can fit them in there?

Between the chassis bars and the block just not enough room which is a shame, and right on the floor the diffuser will get to close, above the bars putting the turbos closer to the engine / gearbox adapter plate might be possible, but I've made that a little more difficult as I've committed to wasting the rear body at that point closer to the engine.

The Lower design is the shape I'm going for and as you can see the body starts a down ward slope from the fuel cap area down to the center exit exhaust...

But I may still have enough room its had to tell at this point. I have done some preliminary string lines to check that my rear Gearbox plate can accommodate this shape and it looks to be fine. I really need a 3D scan of my body so I do the body in CAD, but people just want to much money to scan it.......

Other than perhaps dry sump stuff getting in the way, it does look like there is room, APS, TTiX, AGP Gen5 etc etc etc style for mounting the turbos tucked tightly into the block area. ?

If you're computer proficient with this kind of thing....

semi-DIY 3D scanning ?

Well took of the panels and the Fuel cell, gave me access to weld 90% of the engine mounts up. Will do the little be left when its stripped for blasting.
Chris came round (Unobtainium Welding) he's doing the hot side for me next month, and we bashed out some Pro's and Con's of each position we could get the turbos in. All have some sort of a compromise, but once we talked it though the best place for them that made the most sense and gave us the best Heat Management setup just shone though. Now knowing where the turbos are going I'll make the brackets to hold the cold side up on rubber joints. The turbos are 24lbs each and its just to much leverage on the manifold, so we need to help support them.
I mocked up a intercooler with some 2x4 and I can get a 9.5" tall by 18" core with 2.5" tanks at either end. It can be 4" deep if needed but will ask around to see whats available.... So that's a total of 342sq" of core, hoping that's enough to go Tube and Fine not Bar and Plate as I don't want to add any excess weight if I don't have to ..

Temporary brackets to hold turbo while we build the Manifold.... Also so I build the permanent Cold side Support.

Under the Turbos I've mocked up a 20"x10" Air to Air intercooler, so should be able to squeeze in a core of about 17.5x10x3.5".

Is that a permanent mount or temporary ?

I personally wouldnt want anything bolted to either the core or alloy parts of the turbo

It wouldnt take much chassis flex, manifold flex...flex or movement anywhere even via expansion to stress and cause damage or certainly affect the turbos operation.

If you're supporting weight etc...do it all on the turbine housing. Allow the turbo core and compressor to remain free.

Brackets on the T4 mount are only there while the Exh manifold is made, the rubber mounts on the comp side are bolted to the beam that the engine is solid mounted to bud. There will be no flex there of any shape, and they are rubber mounts so it can take expansion of the manifold while still aiding in the weight of the turbo hung out from the heads.

Clive, do you still plan on usin the long flat mounted intercooler cores or are you standing up the fires more (looking at the wooden blocks in the above pics)?

Probably rubber mounts of the side pods or chassis, but I must admit to wanting to use some form of Wiggins clamps for the charge piping. Plus they just look so cool...
