They could've been a little nicer with the seam sealer.. What the hell
Looks like they were trying to fill in the gap above the tub. Not sure why they didnt put it on the bottom where the gap is like an 1 1/2in wide. It wouldnt bother me as bad if I could put my plastics over it. I am going to step away for a bit and see what I come up with.
I did my own mini tubs and I can assure you they had to come inward that far to fit 325s that deep in your well and that low. Like your tubs are 100% taxed out. I know you wanted to keep your interior panels in factory position, and also wanted 325s deep in the well, but in this case its either/or. Impossible to have both.
I'm in the same position as you so I just tried to make the best of it.

I would be happy as hell if I could get that much plastic as mine. I can't put anything back there period because the cage is touching right behind the door weatherstip. I knew all along it wouldn't look factory. Maybe I didn't get my point across. Yours looks like I figured mine would.
Ahh I got what you're saying. Damn sorry to hear that. Thought I was helping but now I feel like I'm rubbing it in your face lol. Well you still have a very nice build. Following for sure.

Can you feed only the lip that mounts the plastic in from the rear? I made sure on my old car that there was room for me to slide mine in.

I will really check it out tomorrow but it looked like the cage was against the wall. I was just mad and left but going back tomorrow and look it over again. Once I seen the damage to the outside quarters I had to step away.
Staraighline performance in Joliet. They had the car for 11 months so there was no need to rush. The finish date they give me was 1st week of April. They had it 4x longer than they said so no need to rush.

Here is the car on the trailer heading back to straightline to get some issues ironed out. They assured me it would be done in 3 weeks. I will keep you posted.

In cases where you want a factory looking interior panel, but you have to cut, I have had good luck using fleece glued to the original panel, stretched over a wire frame to where you want the panel to be, and then fiberglassed. Once it is sanded a little, you can spray it with some texture coating and then the panel color and it all blends together like factory.

Thanks for the info. I shouldn't have to resort to that now.
Well, still nowhere with this thing. Still trying to get things right with straightline. When it went back for the 2nd time they kept it for 2 weeks longer than agreed upon and still didnt fix the issues. Per the contract wrote up by Kevin they owe me 6k refund. Car still needs the parachute redone for a 3rd time and the fenderwell fixed where their sawsall got ahold of the lip. They fixed the dents in the quarter from the blade hitting it but somehow missed the cut in the lip. The parachute is ridiculous crooked as hell and the again made the bolt sit against the bumper cover. You will have to make another 3/4 by 1in cut for the nut which is beyond ????? 1in forward or reward is all they had to do.
Yes keeping both for now. Pulled the motor and tranny over the last 2 weeks. The heads are stock, the head studs are stock, no ultra bell on tranny. Stock crank. So, the tranny will be used for a core to get a new one if they will take it. Still yanking to Gene at JW transmissionso on the one in the firebird. The tag that is on it show it to have a deep pan, ultra bell, upgrade input shaft, output shafts spraga and drum. He wants me to email him picks of tag, pump and shaft. If they are stock, he wants the tag back so it won't be passed around. Hard to let the car go because of the beating I took on it. So I will hang on to it for a while.
List of stuff that was suppose to be on the car but not on.
Ported heads with arp studs,
Callies crank, (does has rods)
Built t400 with ultra bell no ultra bell not built
The guy I bought it from could give 2 ****'s about it.
The lightning is a fresh start so maybe I will get a second wind on it. .I just about have everything to get it started.
