subscribed! Good choice ditching the Ls6 cam, especially with that Gt45!

Not sure yet. Rearend is stock right now. Will weld it up solid as soon as cars running. I'd love to find a GN rear for it but they're pricy. I'll run somewhere between 3.23-3.55 I'm guessing. I need to do more homework on that. I'm just trying to get it together first.
Also while getting driveshaft made I found out the TH400 I had built is actually a TH475. Straight cut gears in it. Basically the strongest tranny GM made.

Nice score on the trans. I picked up a low mile th475 as well thinking it was a standard th400. These things shift like a taxi in town and bang gears when you bring the rpm up and I tested it on a stock 350 sbc. Nice low first thicker tail housing and straight cut gears, it sounds good!

Heres a link I found a while back, check it out!

What did you have to do to mate the Th475 to the 5.3? Did you need a spacer? What flywheel did you use?

I used the stock flywheel and got a converter from PRC. They make futon converters that bolt right in. 3200-3500 converter set me back $450. Not bad at all

Default God bit done

I got a lot done on the car lately. Had issues with the Turbo 475 tail housing. Because of the bearings in it my yoke would not fit. Finally found a turbo 400 tail housing and got it installed. Found my tranny would be too high with factory crossmember in original location. Also had to drill hole in crossmember to use to mount tranny mount. I had to fabricate a small plate and mount 1 side crossmember on top in normal location and other side on bottom of frame instead of on top.
Also got starter installed and wired up, got tranny lines and shifter cable hooked up. Wrapped manifolds in heat wrap and got them installed. Also put heat boots on plug wires and got plugs in. I used TR6 plugs gapped at .024.
I had to fab up some brackets to hold radiator in and got them installed.
Overall I've got a lot done so far. Getting closer to hearing her fire up. I still need to mount my fuel cell, order and install fuel pump and lines, plumb hot and cold side along with installing 4 in inter cooler.
Sorry I didn't take any pics. I'll snap some tomorrow and post em up.

Default Been a while

Well due to health issues the car was put on back burner. Ended up getting her finished and on the road for a few weeks and oil pump took a dump and locked motor up.
Just got another 5.3 and threw my cam (ended up going with custom grind (598/605 113+6LSA), my studs, heads with springs, intake and just finished her up tonight. Will crank in am and see how she does. Still have a lot of tuning to do. Been trying with crappy tires and it just rips them loose even at 70 on interstate with only 12lbs boost. Friends gonna let me use Dyno. Let's see if I can get some pics uploaded and possibly videos. With my phone case the sound is extremely low b

Tomorrow I need to bolt up converter, throw starter in, drop radiator back in, hook up turbo oil feed/return, fill her with oil and go do some burnouts!!
Wish it would let me post some of the videos of me driving it in traffic, on interstate and doing some pro stock burnouts.

Neighbors love me

Default Spinning

While working on my tune some dude in a new SS Camaro decides he wants to play. I was in a good mood and didn't want to take all the dudes money so I said $20? He agreed if he could go when he was ready. No problem.
Soon as I hit second I was coming around him peddling the entire time. We get back and he asked me "what's that yellow light that's in your car?" LOL. First $20 score. Now time to get her on Dyno and see where we're really at on 12lbs. Also need some good tires desperately. I'm sick of driving on ice

Getting the old drag radials off my 15x10s tomorrow and seeing if they fit. If so then I'll try to find some drag radials that'll fit under the Malibu. This cars a pain in the *** to get tires under it without notching the frame. Frame on one side and fender on other. I'd like to get some 28x10.5s under her. Anyone else have a G body and fit 15x10s, what tire size are you running?

I found Bondo on my rear quarter panel.

Torque was so high it blew the tread right off the crappy tires.
