GEN3 VS GEN4 VS Aftermarket oil pumps...
Anyone take apart their "high volume" Melling or similar oil pumps and compare the georotor to the OEM? Curious if the aftermarket pumps looks similar to the GEN4 or more like the GEN3.
Here is a GEN4 DOD pump (LEFT) VS my GEN3 6.0 truck pump(RIGHT). I was surprised how much larger the vanes are on the DOD pump. Wondering if it outperformes many of the base aftermarket pumps. I can't find any specs on it.
Here is some flow data I found on the OEM LS1 pump VS some aftermarket pumps.

The high volume Melling are supposed to be thicker. Don't have one handy to measure. GM DOD pumps have a better finish from what I have seen and are $100. I am not concered with HP loss. Not doing any stocker racing. That is why I have a boost controller. Schumann does have pumps that redirects oil from the pressure side to the suction side that is supposed to free up power if you want the best of both worlds.
