Sent back that Griffin radiator. $65 for shipping so chalk that up as a loss. Gonna see how the funds go before deciding which one to go with. Plenty of work left before that decision needs to be made.

I would tell the radiator vendor you exspect to be reimbursed for return shipping.

Yup. It's a nice unit! C&R assured me that it'd fit with no problems. That wasn't true at all lol.

Wowzers. That is a nice looking heat exchanger (and big too!).

I've pondered which heat exchanger I'm going to use and still can't pick one, lol. Could go with a good aftermarket model for a Mustang GT 500 (most those will fit) or Setrab makes very nice oil coolers (they're used in Mercedes AMG's, Porsches and other European sports cars). While used as oil coolers, Paxton, Vortech and other supercharger companies use Setrab variants for their blower kits as heat exchangers.

I'm calling DeWitts about making a custom one. C&R stated they could do that same.

Cool, please post (and/or pm me) the dimensions and pricing they give you. I may end up doing the same. Thanks

Korndawg,
when swapping 4l80e 4wd to 2wd, in addition to what Kwizz said about the tailhousing hole, you also need to make sure that the rear drum has a reluctor wheel so the OSS (output speed sensor) can get signal.
4wd trannys have the OSS in the transfer case and "most" do not have the reluctor wheel on the rear drum.
I know this because I did the same procedure, 4wd to 2wd, and missed the reluctor wheel and the bleed hole. I just had to pull the tranny and totally redo it.... LAME!
Without both the ISS and the OSS it doesn't shift right, speedo doesn't read correctly etc....
Wanted to give you a heads up so you don't have to gut that tranny twice, like I did, for a $30 part.
Cool Build, by the way!!

Did some measuring today for my heat exchanger. Looks like I can do a 12"x26"x2.5" HX. Going to talk to DeWitt's this week for a custom one that can make and mount on one of their radiators.

nice car, I also have a '72 malibu, '98 Viper 'N Tense blue with white stripes(wish I did black stripes), my question is about your vacuum booster for your brakes...it looks new...are you going to be running an electric vacuum pump to the booster or what's the plan. vacuum booster with a positive pressure manifold doesn't work very well together

The LSA has a vacuum port for the brake booster. I haven't heard of anyone having issues.

Just need a check valve so the brake booster doesn't see any boost...

Just ordered the Dewitts radiator and custom heat exchanger that they are making to mount together. Also making me a intercooler coolant ice box that fits in the stock battery tray. Hopefully I'll receive them this week and can start up again!

Nice. I'm curious how the heat exchanger will turn out.
