weird Procharger questions HP to turn a F1C and belt slip/max hp ?

Default weird Procharger questions HP to turn a F1C and belt slip/max hp ?

Ok If you have a F1C procharger and your spinning it to max rpms 74k and is flowing 1850 max cfm of air. Is this the free flow specs with no back pressure ?

How much hp would that be if it was prefect setup 1225hp?

Now how much hp would be needed to spin it to max flow at 18psi thought a 8 ribbed belt ?

If you had it spinning the same speed but on a huge engine and a lets say it was only making 5 psi it should take alot less power to turn right/ there would be less of a chance of belt slip ?

Now would it make more power cause it will be able to flow more air because there less psi on the output side or cause it just using less hp to turn it ?

The lower the boost with cent blower at same rpm the more power it will take to spin it.
F1C should support 1225hp with proper engine combo.
HP to drive would be a guess. Mine would be 150-200hp at max speed on a 1200hp engine.
Less boost at same rpm could make more hp because of less heat being produced, but it would be tough to test.

From a Procharger engineer...

The hp consumption is the product of a number of things, the blower will consume less power at a given speed if it is operating at a lower boost level (pressure ratio), provided it isn't way off to the right of the compressor map (blower too small for the engine).

That said, a centrifugal blower blower typically consumes the equivalent of 15-20% of your flywheel hp at elevated boost levels. That is to say if you're making 1000hp at the flywheel, the blower input power approximately 150-200hp.

The borg warner match bot is capable of calculating shaft hp to turn their compressor wheels. You could run the simulation with a compressor wheel similar in size to the compressor in your Procharger. That would give you a reasonable estimate of the amount of power required to turn it under different conditions like boost levels and engine sizes. Because they are not he same compressor there will be some error, but it will be reasonably close. This is the best tool I know of to estimate it, procharger engineers probably have something more accurate though.

F1C is only rated for 1625cfm and 1200hp.


Their D1sc is only rated for 925hp however on a 427ci Super Chevy made over a 1000hp only spinning it to 46,000rpm (7.4x4.25 pullies) 62k max. I was a little disappointed they didn't pulley down to see the full potential.
The F1a-94 rated for 1200hp on the same 427ci made 1267hp spinning to 67,000rpm (7.4x3.85 pullies) 74k max. So depending on your engine combination and how much hp it can make in n/a form will determine procharged hp

Bottom line is this:

Prochargers specs are worthless. It has been proven time and time again and when asked about it they just seem to go radio silent. It's pretty ridiculous how garbage their "spec sheet" is. I honestly can't even understand why they post that **** up as it is 100% useless information. I'm a big fan of using Prochargers too.....
