So close! Very exciting, going to be a blast to drive I'm sure
I sure hope so!!!!!
It did run last night, well barely..... I was struggling to run, it was extremely lean..... After I got home last night I was looking the tune over and realized when I changed the map sensor in the base tune I used, it rescaled the base fuel map which caused it to be extremely lean down low..... I made some changes, we will see if it helped in a little while.....
Well, it kind of runs..... I put more fuel to it and that helped a little but it was still real flat, sounded like extremely late timing..... I thought maybe I screwed something up in the tune so I tried a base LS1 file, it was the same..... So next I decided to pull the plugs, and Houston we have a problem..... Cylinders 6 & 8 are doing nothing, not sure if it's fuel or spark yet..... I did check everything but the signal wires and all looks good so far..... So for now I have it narrowed down to bad plugs, coils, injectors, wiring or ecu(or any possible combination of mentioned items)..... This should be an easy fix.....

Checked grounds, injector signal/function, coil signal/function and it didn't really help..... Methodically went over everything again, and the problem turned out to be defective/shitty terminals for the coil plugs..... They had very poor contact area, a couple of the ones on cyl 6 & 8 were extremely loose..... I changed to some other ones I have that seemed to fit much better, through a new set of plugs in it and it fired up and idled good..... Is that some BS or what.....
It seems to be running pretty good now, just needs a couple minor adjustments and some learn time driving..... First I need to remove the trans to address a minor leak problem, I put studs in to retain the pump and there is fluid seeping out the threads between the studs and nuts(odd, but needs to be addressed)..... After that I need to repair/assemble the grill, paint the stone guard, paint the hood, assemble the front end stuff, bolt the seats and seat belts in..... It's getting there but still so far away.....
I got the trans out and on the bench this morning..... Then I cleaned my truck inside and out, leaving early in the am for Biloxi.....
Here it is on the bench.....
It was leaking fluid from the 3 bottom studs in the pump, the fluid was coming up the threads between the nuts and studs.....
At first I couldn't figure out how the fluid was getting to the studs until I looked at a pump gasket today, the holes for the bottom 3 mounting holes all intersect a passage or opening through a notch in the gasket..... I thing I can just change out the studs for bolts and not worry about it, the trans seemed to be working fine other then a small leak..... Here's what I am talking about with the gasket.....
Went o the NMRA race on Saturday, but I still managed to fix the trans and get it back in over the weekend..... Then I changed the fuel injectors and opened the throttle blade a little more..... I also got the coolant drained, removed the radiator and fan controller..... I got most of the time delay relay arrangement wired, I would have got it done but I didn't have the correct crimpers for the 56 series terminals at the shop..... I will get them from work and finish that up.....
I have those, they work OK on the female 56's but not so good on the male ones..... The GM tools have a lot more bulk to the crimping heads and longer handles for better leverage.....

I'll get a pic of them today.....
The male 56 series terminals have that extra tang at the very bottom and my current crimper just sheers it off. So I am eager to see what you are using that works well the male 56 series terminals.
