93-97 camaro to truck headlight conversion
Getting ready to make some front end changes and thought about ordering these for $80 and doing the conversion on a 94.
My only question is in the lighting FAQ where I saw the guys using these, they are mounted on an angle to match bumper line. On the silverado looks like they are straight on...so in other words, is this going to throw light on an angle if installed to follow the bumper line?

doesn't look like they are angled enough to be able to tell in the light output. I plan on doing this at some point as I have a few extra housings hanging around from past light setups I've had on my truck.

None yet. Just got the car back from full repaint. Will be done, the stock lights suck. I drove it back from the body shop and felt blind compared to modern cars now. Here is the front after repaint. I think these headlights will look good with the more agressive look. Will take some time for me to get to it.

What kind of bulbs do those headlights use? If they're stock, the trucks from that year used the same terrible 9005/9006 bulbs that F-bodies use.
The best alternative halogen bulb I've found is the 2011/2012 HIR. I use them in my truck that came with the same stupid 9005/6 bulbs and it's a huge improvement, all with the same longevity and wattage.

9012 replaces 9006
9011 & 9012 look similar to each other the same way that 9005 & 9006 look similar to each other. However the tabs are a little different. 9011 has higher lumen output than 9011. Just like 9005 has higher lumen output than 9006.
Also, the tabs on 9011 & 9012 are slightly different than 9005 & 9006 but they usually fit without trimming. If they need trimming, it is minor.
9005 & 9011 are intended for high beam
9006 & 9012 are intended for low beam.

It's very minor, only the top tab needs to be trimmed. It takes literally five seconds with a pair of wire cutters. That's if you have replaceable bulbs, which us poor F-body guys do not.

When I had the 93-97 style front end I was taking the stock bulbs out of the housing and replacing them with a quality 9006 replacement bulb like a mid-grade SilverStar or a Phillips Xtravision. Much better light output over the stock lights for very little effort and $$$.
