Default 2 Questions

Hi to everyone. Been quite some time since last post. Lot of life things getting in the way.

First question - I need to build some motor mounts for my panel truck project. I have some .1875/10ga in my shop. I checked the panel truck frame and it appears to be .1560/9ga. Is my 10ga too lite for a mildly built 5,3 with a 4l60e?

Second question - Are the 4.8 engines a good platform to build on? Have another project i'm dreaming about?

Thanks
Mike

First, the 4.8L is great and can work well in boosted applications, if that is what you are doing.

Second, 10 gauge seems too think for engine mounts, but then again it all depends on the actual design. I like using 4th gen f-body engine mounts and making a mating u-shaped bracket on the frame. For that you would want to use 5/16" - 3/8" plate.

if it's 10ga sheet it'll be like .135" thick or so. it'd work with some gusseting

.1875 would be like a "7" gauge sheet or more common as 3/16" plate, which is what I use for my mount plates.
