Well I had a productive weekend. Brewed a batch of beer on Friday night, and got the LS2 fired up on Saturday night. It fired right up as soon as I got it fuel. I am having a fuel pump wiring issue, that I will get worked out and a fuel leak issue that I located and will get fixed this week. Then all I have to do is get the airbox finished up and the AC lines built and the system charged.
I bought a mastercool AC line swaging tool from Amazon. I bet you could build your own lines for reasonable $ ~ $150 for the tool. Parts seem pretty cheap.
Total between parts and the tool was less than the $300 quoted from an local automative shop. Parts were on the order of $40 or $50 with high quality hose.
He 4lux ,could a regular pipe and cone filter fit in between your water pump and the power steering pump?
Maybe, but it will have clearance issues with the hood. Plus, all you will be doing is heat soaking the engine. All the intake air would be taken from right over the header.

Given your skills, I might suggest similar.
I planned on buying the fittings and hose online and then having the shop that will charge the system up crimp the hoses. That way I can mockup the lines fitment, prior to finish crimping the hose ends. I have a couple friends that have shops and the crimp tool for the AC lines.
So I recorded a video of the car starting and running, but need to get it from my phone to my desk top. I will work on that tomorrow and post it up. I had a few issues on my first few start ups, the first was that I messed up the fuel pump relay wiring and had to switch polarity. the GM ECU is positive switched for the fuel Pump relay and the Porsche DME is negative switched. The following photo was my solution to this issue. I used the Porsche fuel pump relay and now let the GM ECU control the relay and fuel pump. I would rather have the happy GM ECU control the fuel pump, instead of the un-happy Porsche DME in control.
The other issue I was having was a small coolant leak out of the Porsche expansion tank. I looked into things and plugged the rear facing port out of the pressure release. I will have to test drive and make sure I have no heating issues. Things have ran and cooled well in the garage, I will see if that is the case when I test drive. I also jumped back on my air box build. I built my mounts and mocked up to start building the box and TB feed tube. I will document this portion of the build closely to show all the steps!!!

My gmpp harness the wire going to the fp is already fused and on a relay so i just ran that to the fuse box up front and tapped it into the wire coming out of the porsche relay to the pump.

That is what this set up does, just makes it clean and I did not have to cut into the Porsche relay panel in the front drivers side foot area. you can see in this pic that I cut the + and - trigger plugs off the relay and control them from the GM ECU, via a + from the GM ECU/ FP relay and then just grounded the - to the body.

Assuming you're using the E40 PCM; if you're interested in having cruise control, you can have the PCM flashed to the 2005 SSR OS. You'll just need to use a pedal from the SSR/TBSS.

Could you elaborate a little for me please? I'm a old school diesel guy and this is my first foray into the LS world. I'm getting a 2001 996 and thinking of using a L76 out of a G8. I would love to do as much of this conversion on my own within purchasing a kit.
So, I was able to get the Porsche in the garage this weekend. And started on working on things.
In the garage and up on jack stands, also got the bumper off!!
All you get from Renegade is some pictures of where to cut the rear for LS clearance. So I did my best and looked at Fierofly's and few of the other builds out there.
Beings I will not be using the electric water pump, a little more cutting was in order. I looked at txstormtrooper and 1dirtyz's for how much they both cut out.
was the original porsche flat 6 missing when you got the car? How much did you get the car for that thing is sweet also do you think the porsche auto trans will have the same issues with winding out....sounds like a rock and a hard spot especcally if you want that third pedal,but given the fact that it is already installed I guess u just gotta make it work
