Stock bottom end 5.3 has been 4's with ported 799's.... maybe those are the best.

Nope, Top Fuel cars use rectangles. TF>everything else.

The rectangle port heads large cross sectional area is only beneficial when used in a scenario where its additional capabilities can be appreciated.

I would offer that the factory style, long runner plastic intake on a stock displacement engine is not the ideal scenario.

Scenarios that I do like for the rectangle ports are:
*Large displacement used with long runners and lower to moderate RPM.
*Stock displacement with short runners and high RPM.
*Large displacement short runners and moderate to high RPM.
*Forced induction or heavy nitrous with shorter runner intakes.

Agreed.

At 6500 rpm on a 6.2 you're not utilizing a rectangle port at all.

So.. back to the ops original question which I think has been answered. People may "hate" on LS3 heads because they suck(no offense). People may like them because they are cheap. Can they be made to perform well..yes.

I guess that's toward me. As I stated "no offense". I didn't mean to hurt feelings. They can work well.

We all have our opinions. No need to get personal.

My feelings aren't hurt. I'm just stating that it is exceptionally foolish to think they flat-out suck. These aren't TBI swirl port heads.

Ok. I understand. Where you got this "flat-out" thing is on you. How do you know I didn't mean towards LS7 heads? Either way man, I'm just not a fan of the LS3 heads. Hey, maybe that's just my fault. No bad blood.

It's all good homie.

SBE L92 with LPE ported stock heads (far from the best program), flycut pistons, ARP head studs, main studs, and rod bolts, 10.4:1, comp 239/251 on 110+2 with a victor jr & street holley 750. It's run 10.13@131 with a 1.36 short time through a glide and an 8.5" 10 bolt. 7500 rpm at 131 mph shifted at 7k.

I'm glad we don't have cathedrals or it'd flip over backwards obviously.

If that is what you meant, then you would have said it. Don't backpedal and try to do some piddly arguing semantics ****. If you don't like them, then that's fine. Just because you don't like them doesn't mean that they suck.

Look into Frankenstein Chimera heads. They're awesome, but every head will seem like a budget option after that!

Do you have a gypsy bottle or something? How do you know these things? Actually I haven't "said" anything. I'm not trying to argue. Like I said before, sorry I said they sucked. Get over it.
