There is alway reason engineers give limits, it is calculated and tested. If they could work properly (key word is properly) on a skinny rims and sell more, trust me they would. As mentioned it is about good information, which in my world is by design, not just throwing it at a wall and hoping it sticks. Like going onto a ramp and hoping that incorrect sized tire sticks like it should.
Absolutely, I hear ya. I did it 12 years ago because a few guys in the local F-Body club were doing it for a few years without trouble. So I did too, knowing that I was only doing basic street driving.

But I think these will feel pretty nice being a perfect combo.

I have another set of matching rear wheels that are 18 x 10.5. I'm gonna put some M/H ET Street R drag radials.....305/45/18 on them for race night......

Going wider on that size of a wheel is bad. I have seen a few run 315s but the bulge of the tire on that wheel is horrible. Now... if you were to go that same size on a Nitto, they will run narrower. Is it recommended? Not really. The widest you can go on a 17x9 is 285/40/17. Ive seen it done. Ill attach a picture below. This guy has 17x9.5 TTIIs 275/40/17 fronts and 285/40/17 rears.

Nice looking ride ! Do you know if they stick out past the rear ? It looks like it does a bit and I do have 9.5 after actually having a tire removed and replaced I verified they are 9.5 so that will work perfect ! Thank you for your help

Its not my ride, just a reference pic. 285/40/17 would be just fine on that wheel size.
