Brake fluid - the important thing is to flush it every year or two depending on mileage
Tranny fluid - Amsoil is my top choice, Redline second, Royal Purple third. I actually had the RP stop the 4L60 in my burb from slipping. I have used Mobil 1 but prefer the other 3. For oil, I still like the 3 above but I use German Castrol quite frequently too. The shitstorm this topic will cause is worth its own thread.

Apologies, meant one quart. Mixing those two fluids together. D4 ATF and MTL. Not gonna lie, I read that from Fuzzy Logic's build but I have been mixing Redline fluids for decades in my transmissions to try and save them. It works (most of the time).

I see I'll have to order online cause none of the local parts stores carried any of that stuff
Also would 1 quart of brake fluid be enough to do a brake flush?
I wanna get all this old dirty crap outta there

The D4 ATF + MTL mixture modifies the viscosity of the baseline D4 ATF and provides friction additives that improve synchro performance. It's a fairly well-known trick to help the T-56 shift, particularly at high RPM or if it's got a lot of miles on it. If you drive in super cold climates, you will notice that the oil is a little thick when you shift at startup but I've been daily driving my V1 down to -5F for 5 years with no discernible problems.

No, both Redline products. 3 quarts D4 ATF and 1 quart MTL 75W80 GL-4.

Like engine oil, you're going to get a million opinions. My opinion is that ATE DOT 4 is the best balance of performance and cost for someone that drives aggressively on the street with occasional auto-x or track use. If you're not driving aggressively there's no need to spend the extra money. Conversely, if you regularly hit the track, Motul RBF 600 or whatever Junior-1 or AAIIIC use. They're the most experienced in that area.

If you don't have a specific performance application in mind, buy whatever's cheap. I think it's better to use cheaper fluid while you're learning how to bleed the system. Better to burn a couple of liters of inexpensive fluid keeping it fresh than milking the last few percent of life out of expensive fluid that you don't really need.

Counting down the days for the install, i cant wait lol

Buy the harbor freight, and get some scrap and practice. Make a difficult to reach environment to mimic your issue, and practice until you can get it done without making a mess.
Don't start by trying your first weld on your car, you will make a mess and cause much more damage.

Welding is 2 parts, equipment and practice. You need a more of the latter then the former. I've seen pros lay out beautiful work with awful equipment, the opposite is not true.
