ls1 Chevette

I took some of the clips he had of the car and a couple that I had and tossed them all into one video.
The car definitely sounds good with that cam.

Thanks again for the help Joe. And that video editing turned out pretty sweet.
As for the starter. I do plan on wrapping the starter and probably that section of pipe.

Hey Romulus,
Were you out on Woodward last night (Monday 8/14)?
I was on my way home from work, and saw a red chevette with what looked like an LS swap parked near Nicky's Coney Island, IIRC.

That is my old car, I traded it a couple months ago to a guy in Grand Rapids. Hes about 18 and apparently is daily driving it. It had a h/c ls1 in it and I put a stock 5.3 in it before I sold it. That thing is very rough compared to this guys build. The chevette is coming along nicely!

Round three of Chevette headers coming soon. This setup just isn't going to cut it.
For those wondering why they are built the way they are, well that's because that's what fits. Somewhat conveniently. Here's some pictures of the area I have to work with.
I've got some work ahead of me. Hopefully this is the last set of headers I'll have to make for this car. If anyone looking to build an LS Chevette might be interested in the old headers/Y-pipe let me know. They're fine for a stock engine.

New mounts finished. Engine coming out tomorrow to finish removing the old mounts on the frame rails. Already tons more room and more importantly after the engine and headers go in for the final time I'll actually have access to the engine bolts.

Drivers side header almost finished . Just finished welding all the primaries. Going to call it a night and grind them, finish assembly tomorrow.
Here's a mockup picture after I pulled it from the car before I started welding the primaries.

Rainy day so I had a head start to the weekend to get started on my other header. The passenger side is proving to be quite a challenge working around the starter, trying to leave enough room to install it after the torque converter bolts are tightened. It's getting late so no more cutting and grinding tonight. Here's the progress I've made for the day.
