How do you get the car home when something like that happens? Surely not a tow truck (that has to be too expensive).
$120 a year membership to AAA. Car breaks.... just call em.

Yup. The tow truck driver and I were talking as he was taking me home, he told me that if I didn't have AAA it would have cost me nearly $400. So the membership has more than paid for itself. And I still have a few more tows should I need them.

damn well I've never needed to get my car towed. I don't drive something far unless I am confident I will make it back. Maybe thats why I never get to the track... ahha

I carry lots of spare parts too. Spare fuel pump, tire, tire plug, air pump, belts, water, oil, trans fluid, at once point I even had spare rocker arms, shims and a head gasket.

Even if I had a spare yoke, I was still dead in the water.... the transmission was hurt, and I can't exactly tear the transmission down at the track.

I doubt the yoke was your problem. My guess is the pinion crawled up the ring gear and locked it up and the yoke was fallout. Stock diffs are gack

I doubt that happened. While I agree the 7.5 is far from being a desirable peice, I think the stock rubber bushed lca caused things to go bad. Which is why heim joints are going back in.

It was a Fairmont.

I just replaced all of my driveline parts with good stuff and did my entire rear suspension. I will add boost, fuel system, and a built trans next over this winter.

Good, senseless to stick an OE part back in it. That is unless you like missing a foot, or parts of a foot.

So I grabbed the driveshaft to put another u joint on it, but no.... wasn't that easy....i noticed this here in the pic. This is yet another reason to ensure that your drivetrain is solid. This will now cost me about $100 to fix.

She's back! The intermediate upgrade was definitely needed and worth the cost, 2nd gear is SOLID now. Car feels really good.

Did you go with a billet aluminum drum or a steel drum with a 36 element sprag?

Ordered a billet forward drum from a sponsor, didn't go very well...ended up putting my old drum back in the thing. Using a standard 4L80 direct.
